by Dr. Caesar Candari
Beyond a shadow of doubt, Noli Zosa is the most qualified person to be San Diego city councilman of District 7. He brings excellent credentials to this position, with his Political Science and Law school degrees at University of California San Diego. For 3 years he served as the Student Director of a Legal Resource Center that UCSD his Alma Mater operated in the Bayside Community Center to assist low income San Diegans with their housing issues. His experience in both the private and public sector, along with his dedication to the community will make him a strong voice for District 7.
I have known Noli since he was a young boy. I am proud to state that unquestionably he has the clarity of his convictions, and shows he profoundly cares about serving others; in this way his integrity, dedication, and commitment truly show- his community service for nearly 30 years on 17 local boards and commissions, including the YMCA Mission Valley board, Mission Trails Citizens Advisory Council, San Diego Park and Recreation Board and Linda Vista Planning Group, which he chairs. Noli worked to maintain, expand, and renovate existing recreation facilities and programs to keep at risk children off the streets and involved in programs that will benefit both our communities and the kids’ overall well being.
Noli Zosa has the following platform. Homelessness: He wants to tackle this issue by attacking the root problems that include out of reach housing costs, domestic violence, substance abuse, mental health and other issues. Noli will create change through non-profit organizations like “Solutions for Change” which creates a solid foundation for struggling San Diegans. Noli looks to reduce homelessness in a smart and permanent way. Housing: Streamlining the permitting process and reviewing all fees for both homebuilder and homeowner is one of the solutions. Noli Zosa wants homeowners to be able to expand and remodel their homes and wants homebuilders to bring new housing stock online by reducing overbearing red tape. Increasing the availability of new homes and reducing fees that are passed on to the homeowner is the step in the right direction. As Chair of community planning group, he championed the San Diego Housing Commission’s (SDHC) change in policy that now gives first priority to low income families who have been or will be displaced by new development in their current apartment communities. Accomplishing this as a private citizen, we expect more when Noli is a City councilman. Economy / small business / Jobs: A more pro-business climate is needed to increase the supply of jobs for all San Diegans. Noli Zosa will be an advocate for jobs and for the success of businesses, both large and small! Noli Zosa will fight against City Hall policies that weaken the business climate and reduce jobs for San Diegans. Streamlining processes and preventing bad policy will bring jobs to San Diego. Safe Neighborhoods: Noli Zosa will not defund the police! On the contrary, he will work to increase the bonds between community members and police officers. Community based policing is vital for residents to have positive relationships with officers so that they will feel safe and secure and no fear will exist when reporting a crime. Noli understands we need to increase officers and to increase officers that reflect the communities they serve to promote the affinity needed to build strong bonds to the community. Officers should have the pay and resources needed to do an effective job, Noli, will also work to increase the number of dispatching staff. 911-response time for the city has dramatically improved; Noli will also work to ensure non-emergency call wait times are reduced. Fixing Streets, Traffic, & Infrastructure: Noli Zosa will support increased funding for street repair and reconstruction. As a future board member of the City of San Diego’s Mobility Board, Noli will work to create a balanced approach for investment in transit and transportation of the future and improve infrastructure for today. Noli will support ideas for utilizing technology to reduce traffic such as utilizing smart adaptive traffic signal optimization technology. Noli will ensure that planning for the future will include known future technologies like self-driving cars and other alternative fuel vehicles.
Noli Zosa will serve with fairness, honesty, compassion, and intense leadership and with his caliber will be a positive influence in our community. Vote wisely and cast that vote for Noli.
Noli needs volunteers in his campaign and please contribute any amount today.
